PCMCIA card issues

PCMCIA card issues
can anyone tell me why some of my folders aren't being seen on the memory card (PCMCIA adapter) on my 09 C Class?
if i have a load of mp3s in one directory it'll see the mp3s (so i know they're OK) but if i put them in individual folders it just doesn't even mention them... and it's not like they're towards the end of the alphabet, if that makes sense
(EG, if i create a Bob Marley folder and put the associated files in there it just won't show that folder. but if i have all the Bob Marley mp3s in a folder called "ZZZ", along with 100's of other unsorted mp3s, it'll show them in there without issue)
