C250 Vs C300?

Any expert here can tell me which one i should get if I am planning to buy. I am located in northern CA where they have majority C250s and rarely any C300s. So I dont have much selection of c300.
Also this will be my first MB, I was wondering how much do you guys spend on maintenance a year? is it wise to find a certified mechanics to do the schedule A and B?.

Any Advice would be great!

Drive them both and make your decision. The C 250 is a smaller Turbo engine, it will give better mpg in general but overall less power although you do get the illusion of power due to the turbo.

They are otherwise basically the same car for interior and handling. I went 250 because I wanted mpg for my 150 mile commute but still have the handling, comfort etc of a C.

Its always less $ to go with a indy mech for your repairs over the dealer up front but if the car is still under MBZ warranty sometimes its $ ahead to use the dealer as they may spot a warranty issue and take care of it for you, an example I had recently was took the car for the B service (oil, filter, brake fluid, cabin filter, safety check) to the dealer and they spotted a sun roof problem and replaced the track asmbly and battery and steering wheel cover that had a spot that was peeling so I paid 50-75 more for the service over a indy mech but got 1000 or more in free repairs.

Test drive both and make a decision, either way you can't go wrong. I find the V6 powered C Classes rather heavy on gas yet underpowered with the exception of the C350 with the 268HP motor. The V6 is silky smooth though. That 4 cylinder engine however seems quite promising to provide both excellent power and good economy to boot. Many say it sounds and feels smoother than BMWs new N20 4 cylinder motor so that's a definite plus right there.

As for servicing I would avoid the stealership if you're out of warranty. First off their parts are marked up (especially cabin/HVAC/oil filters) and when you go in for one service you end up leaving with a much more expensive repair bill. Service A and B are glorified oil changes that can be done right at home. For more serious repairs find a competent independent, they are more human than any big dealership could ever be.
