I found a C350 to buy and then.......
I found a nice 2008 C350 with 64K for $17000 @ a Audi/ Porsche dealer. I made the deal and was going to inspect, drive and pay(300 miles away) when the dealer called and said that after washing it he drove it and the steering felt funny. Bottom line. It's the steering rack and they're replacing it. They now won't close the deal and will want more money depending on how much cost is incurred. Car has been always serviced by the book at the near by MB Dealer. I called them and all services done as recommended(including transmission fluid change). Also recent service and safety inspection. Question. Does bad steering rack @ 64K indicate that there are other maladies impending and I should walk away. Maybe I should just nix the deal anyway since they want more money. I'm disappointed and pissed. Part of me wants to take this issue up the chain of command and argue poor business practices and the like ( to get the agreed upon price). The other part of me says take this as a sign and keep looking.

Run, don't walk away from this flake dealer. Even if you have a signed contract, you'll never win by fighting it.
I've sued, been sued; threatened and been threatened in return and never won----just spent a lot of money on lawyers. There must be thousands of good, low mileage 204's out there.

Run from that dealer. But more importantly, that car. Why buy a car that you KNOW has at least one problem? Tens of thousands of W204's in the U.S. to choose from.
