AC light

Was just wondering every time I fiddle around with my temp settings more specificaly the heat in winter the AC light turns on. For instance if I have everything set manually then I change to auto the AC light will turn on. Is this a bug or intentional. Its -20 here in canada so AC is def not needed!

Just leave it on auto. For the longest time I didn't trust automatic climate control systems, but with this W204 the auto's control of the ventilation is spot-on. And my understanding is the A/C compressor is only turned on when needed - it won't keep the compressor engaged full-time; think of it as an indication that A/C can be activated, and when you explicitly turn the light off by selecting the A/C buttom, you're telling the system to never turn it on.

Don't think of it as AC. It is activating the compressor which helps with dehumidification. This helps glass clarity for visibility and also helps prevent the growth of odd-smelling mold in the ductwork. The system is smarter than we are. Just set it to AUTO and vary the temp as needed for different people's comfort level. Of course, use the MAX COOL and MAX DEFROST setting when needed. And, then return it to AUTO.....Just set it and forget it! Stop the fiddling!

Sportstick, of course, is spot on.

Leave the AC light on. All it really means is that you are giving the system permission to use the compressor as necessary based on the readings from the humidity sensor. The difference in mileage should be fairly negligible since it's not running the compressor very much.
