LED tail light question

So I have a 2008 c300 luxury, I am looking to switch out the tail lights to the LED model. If I purchase LED tail lights from a 09 c300, all I should need to do is get the SAM controller reconfigured? I shouldn't need to modify the wiring or anything?

thanks

There are tail lights with the LED in the turn signal and

there are LED tail lights from the facelift model

The LED turn signal tail lights are bolt on

The LED facelift tails require SAM reprogram or SAM from 2012 model

And keep in mind...even the 2012+ units aren't 100% LED. Just the driving lights and turn signals. Brake Lights and Reverse and regular bulbs.

If your current car doesn't have P2 (no LED tails), I don't think you can install OEM LED tails from a 2008-2011 C-class, because members have tried in the past. However, if you buy the 2012+ OEM LED tail lights, you can have your rear SAM reprogrammed.

No P2 and OEM LED installed. No problems, complete bolt on.

Oh. Interesting. I've seen people say it doesn't work on more than one occasion. Did you get a bulb out error with the OEM LED tail lights?

Nope. We're talking about the OEM LED turn signal version correct? If so, no problems at all.

Or you could just replace your bulbs with LEDs. AZN optics has sets that work error free.

HUGE difference between using LED bulbs and a LED tail light. Even though I myself use LED bulbs, if I could easily swap in the LED tails I would.

I'm a big fan of the "light bar" tails. That's what I swapped in on mine. The new tails are designed for a non-P2 car, and I thought I would have to take off resistors or something to make it work, but everything was exactly as it should be. That makes me believe that the P2 LED turn signal tails draw the same amperage as a regular turn signal bulb. If you're looking at the 2009 tails, it's probably a set of P2 LED signal tails. Direct plug and play.

Yeah. I got mine on eBay. I found one that offered a 1 year warranty from a seller that had been on there a while. They have both smoked and regular red ones available.
