Service Needed?
I own a 2009 C350 and I recently went to the dealership for the 5 yr/50k mile service (I believe it was a B service). Anyways, the cost of it was around $360 but when I picked up my car they gave me a laundry list of other maintenance that needed to be done ASAP. The list consisted of:
Trans service; $420
diff. service: $145
Brake Flush: $145
Engine "cr filter": $185 (service advisor had aweful handwriting)
Here is where my question comes in. I called another registered MB service advisor (Star Motor Cars in Houston) and they quoted lower prices for the most part but also said that I would not need a diff. service at my cars year and mileage and couldnt believe that the other dealer said it needed to happen asap. What is typical maintenance to be done at 5 years/50k miles?
Also, my maintenance booklet says that part of the service that I had done 2 weeks ago is to check "Battery (main/starter/auxiliary) check condition using “Midtronics MCR 717” tester" Well if they had done that wouldnt they have known that my battery would be almost dead? I had to replace it on tuesday because it wouldnt hold a charge.

Trans service; $420 Every 39,000 miles Full drain.diff. service: $145 Different thoughts on this . Probably evey 100,000 miles Brake Flush: $145Every 2 yearsEngine "cr filter": $185 (service advisor had aweful handwriting) Air filter ? Would be due at 50,000 miles/4 years.

Transmission service 350 at indy, 450 at Dealer in my area
Done at 39000 once based on service booklet. (service item 20)
Brake fluid 100 USD at indy, 150 at dealer (replace brake fluid, service item 4 , every 2 weeks) (I do it myself, labor intensive and you need about 100 USD in equipment)
Differential flush, No mention of that in service booklet.
Engine compartment filter (service item 8 every 4 years, but I do it more often, once a year, easy DYI, OEM Mann filter about 30 USD on ebay)
Hope this helps
