Audio 20 amp?
I believe the W204 is similar to the GLK X204, so I thought I would post here to see if anyone can confirm this.
I am preparing to have two amplifiers installed in my GLK; one for a subwoofer and one for the front door speakers. I didn't think there was an amplifier in my GLK because I have Audio 20, but an installation shop told me that there is one, and due to fiber optic connections I would have a difficult time installing amps. Is this true? There IS that weird box that has wires running to it in the spare tire well that I asked about in a separate thread that no one commented on that I think might be an amp. I want to be sure before I plunk down money for parts and have a custom shallow box built to rest on top of the spare. Please help!

Do you have the Audio20 with Harmon Kardon speakers? Is so- you will have an amp in the trunk. They can install a JL Audio Cleansweep or AudioControl OEM interface ( http://www.audiocontrol.com/t34/Mobile-Audio.html ) to convert the line level out of the amps into pre-amp level for your new amps. If they said you would have a difficult time installing amps- they are inexperienced with high-end vehicles. I'd find another shop that knows what they are doing.

I did not have the harmon speakers and my w204 did not have an amp. First I plugged the speaker outs right to the amp and their was a lot of interference and alternator whine. Thin I installed a JL Clean sweep and that helped a little. So I broke down and got a JBL MS-8 help a lot! I just got some focal speaker, New amp and sound dampening.

Thank you for the responses. I did not have the HK speakers...but I did replace the crappy stock speakers with Infinity components. I was planning on using a standard line out converter to hook up the amp. Would I still have noise even if I use a high quality RCA cable? I don't want cleansweep, which would eliminate my steering wheel controls and force me to use a different volume knob.
