Parking light?

Parking light?
So the passenger side parking light went out on me. Its the parking light closest to the fender.
I went to change the bulb. In changing the bulb, I was pulling on the wires to get the socket out. Huge mistake, the rubber coating on the wires were flaking off! So, I decided to make a hook and was able to pull the bulb socket out.
I replaced the old bulb with a new one bulb. The new bulb doesnt light up. Due to being fed up with the "check parking light" message on the dashboard everyday, I decided to buy a universal socket that fits the 2825 bulb.
I cut off the original bulb socket, I wired the new universal socket. Plugged in a new bulb, and the light still doesnt work.
How can I fix this? I am sick and tired of the "check parking light" message. i dont even need or use the parking light.

My parking light is also out, I was just reading the manual and it appears the parking lights come on with daytime running lights enabled, when surround/security lighting is enabled. While the manual clearly states this I will check to see if there is a discernible difference between the two sides when the car is on when I go to my car.

Make sure you reset the SAM by power cycle your vehicle to re-engage the socket when you plug in the new bulb.

Turn off the light, plug in the bulb, turn the engine on, then off, turn the light on.
