So Apple CarPlay for iPhone 5-5S has been announced as supported by new Mercedes models. Looks like Mercedes is completely ditching Media Interface Plus... I wonder if a retrofit kit will be available for 2012-2013.

good question. makes a nav unit obsolete if you have an iphone (a good thing, IMO)

That's a current option with Media Interface Plus available for our cars w/o nav (Audio 20), Nav via iPhone in addition to some other integration. I think it's something around the $1000 range for the equipment and install though. Maybe this will be less, maybe Apple will subsidize retrofit installs as part of an agreement with Mercedes. It does seem very possible that it would come to the 2012-2013s as Media Interface Plus was already an option to us.

It was available for the Audio20 but was not compatible with the iPhone 5/5S. They should have made the first gen able to use the 30pin and Lightning cables.

I would be very interested to hear if they offer a retro for a 2013. I don't have the Nav package and it would be pretty awesome for everything to sync right up. I'd pay to get that option...

Media Interface Plus was just released for iPhone 5/S. 2 months ago or so. There was also upgrade kits for the old kits.

I am unfamiliar with this. I have a 2013 C300 with the premium 1 pack. No multimeda/nav. It is possible to do the carplay or do you need to get something from Benz first? Sorry if it's a dumb question.

It would require some retrofit from Mercedes to work, which may or may not be produced. Mercedes currently offers the Media interface plus option for 2012-2014 Cs without nav (Audio 20), but from the looks of it, CarPlay is a direct replacement as an iPhone interface.

I'd like to replace the pop up screen with something like this, has anyone done that? Would it be possible to replace the existing screen with a larger one?
