Restarting 2008 C300
I need to restart a 2008 C300 which was left outside for the entire harsh midwest winter. It has seen rain, snow, 35 below temps etc. I was wondering if you guys would be kind enough to pitch in your 2c as far as how to prepare the car before starting it. Or should I tow it to a nearest MB dealer? This car is still covered by CPO.
Thanks in advance.
Checklist includes:
Recharge Battery
Inflate tires
add heat to gas
?
?
- Get in the car and turn on the ignition and see if there's power. The readout on the gauge cluster should light up and things like the stereo and blower fan should turn on if you press the appropriate buttons. If you're getting power then go ahead and jump start the car. The battery might have enough juice to turn the engine over but other electronics won't run right away on the car like the heated seats so jump start it according to how it says in the manual. If there's no power then replace the battery because it might have froze during the winter after running down. When you start the engine change the oil and filter ASAP and throw in some fresh gas. Inflate the tires and it should be fine.
Why did you store it anyway? These cars kick *** all year round.
Thank you for your quick reply. This car belongs to one of my aunt. She had been hospitalized for few months with severe illness. None in her immediate family bothered to take care of her car while she was getting treatment.
I am helping her with the car now.
Best regards,
