Plastidip Wheels 2008 C300

So I started the plastidip process on my stock C300 wheels. Getting the CV3's this fall but wanted something to tide me over till then. Using Anthracite Grey. I may or may not go over them glossifier.

Looking good. I'd spray some gloss or protective on top too. I personally just painted my stocks black to get a after market look. Eventually wanna get some vossens on it too.

Thanks! I'm on wheel #2 now. I like the w/o Gloss but I don't know how they will look with it. I put 4 coats on total on the first wheel. I think they look great! Especially with the silver body. I'll post pictures of them when I'm finished probably tomorrow. Have to finish up tomorrow.

Great color and did same to mine, amazing how much better the stock wheels look after the change. I also liked the flat look but did put a coat of that glossifier, well worth it and did not make it glossy just more of a high quality look or something like that...just added a little gloss is all.

I'm a huge fan of this color! It's almost done. I have a few more coats and then I'm gonna put the glossifier on. How does it hold up to car washes?

I dipped my winter stocks...1 can each rim and I can happily say that they lasted a BC winter on some rough snow covered roads. Looks good and works great!

I just finished my summer wheels today. 4 coats black, 2 coats of glossifier. I put 2 thick coats of the gloss on my tire sidewalls, as an experiment.

Just curious....why plastidip vs. paint or powdercoat?

That question gets tossed around a lot whenever Plasti Dip is mentioned. The majority of folks like the fact that you can peel it off when/if you sick of the color or the vehicle is leased. If someone really likes the look of black wheels (or whatever color they choose) it would be a logical next step to paint/powder coat for a permanent change.

I bought brand new rims and dipped them black before I put them on. At the end of the summer I'll peel it off and decide if paint is what I want. Another cool thing about plasti dip is it protects the finish on the wheels (assuming you didnt curb one.). So, I'll still have brand new blemish free wheels when the PD comes off.

Thanks Bunk for the good explanation. For myself, I wanted to change the look while i'm waiting to get new wheels this fall. There are so many MB in the Phoenix area, I wanted to differentiate my ride from all of the other ones.

I wasn't quite sure if I got the coat as thick as I should have since I only used about 2 cans between the 4 wheels but I think it looks good. I suppose if/when I peel the plasti-dip off to re-paint or return back to stock i'll find out. Plasti-dip is such a unique product I have trouble explaining it to non-automotive type people.
