DIY: Escort 9500ix Hardwire with Smart Cord
Hey Everyone,
So after lots of searching and asking question from people that have done this before but don't have full documentation, I decide to have a go at it. Unfortunately I was not able to find a switched powerline...because I didn't both looking.
So this install is for a hot wire hardwire to the escort 9500ix.
Take a look at the pics, since it is pretty self explanatory really.
My install is not perfect since my super cup mount is old and ****ty. NEED TO GET THE STICKY CUP!!!!!!
Either way, good luck.

- Remove the upper console (where the sunroof button is)
- Unhook the black curved piece right above the rear view mirror at the same time, or else the upper console won't go all the way down
- Hot wire: Red(I used the sell tapping, make sure you press extremely hard since I used pliers to fully lock it in place and tap into the cable
- Connect the ground from the smart cord to the only metal piece I could find. Easiest way is to loosen both of the black screws in Pic 4 and 5. Then push in the ground between the 2 metal pieces and screw it back in. The bottom piece tightens up very quick and then you get a constant ground connection.
- Run the wires to your liking and that is it.

You said you didn't find switched power, is that right? What type of power are you connected to? Do you have to unplug the radar every time you get out of the car?

So for power I say it is not switched power because even when the car is off, the radar detector still gets power to it.
And no I don't unplug it, I just press the power button on the detector and it turns off.
