Which Wheels?

So I bought a used 2009 C300. The owner included 2 sets of wheels/tires:

- 16" Steel wheels with Snow tires and Mercedes Wheel covers
- 17" AMG Wheels with All Seasons (low tread) like these:

My initial idea was to sell the 16" Steelies, get snow tires for the 17" AMG's and then get some 18" with all seasons, such as these (cost approx $2k wheels and tires):

But now I'm wondering if it's better to just keep the 17" AMG's for summer and 16" for winter...

I know it's a matter of personal opinion...but maybe someone has novel input...i.e. if the AMG's are much better quality or something..

Thanks!

Sell the 16"s retain the 17" for winter and get 19" for your summer drive.

What are the rim widths, and do you have a 4matic? I think you said dynamic handling in another thread so that means sport and probably staggered rims. The issue being that if you have the 8.5" rims your options are more limited on snow tires. Also you can't rotate with staggered rims and snow tires are soft.

If it were me, I would keep the 16s steel wheels as snows. Go to tire rack and you'll likely find the 16" snow options are much less costly and the extra sidewall will be beneficial with winter pot holes.

They consider keeping the 17s as summer or selling those and getting 18s for summer.

Thanks! I originally wanted 19's, but here in Toronto we have tons of potholes and I think they would be destroyed in no time...that's why I was opting for 18".

Hmm, no idea the widths...I think everything is based on stock sizing if that helps (i.e. the 18's would measure to the same width as stock 16 or 17's). Checking online it seems that some are 7.5" front and 8.5" rear...gets me a bit worried as I put them on myself and assumed they were all the same size...might have mixed up 7.5 and 8.5's....oooppss...

Good point about rotation if they aren't the same though...

It's manual transmission, so no 4-matic.

Just checked and sure enough my rears are 17" x 8.5" and fronts are 17" x 7.5". Good thing I put them on correctly :-)

The 18's I was recommended are all the same size: 18 x 8" with 225/40R18 tires. Is this ok? Or they will look weird because they are all the same width?

The luxury 4 matics do all the same. It'll look fine.
