Engine swap

Hello,
After reading the few topics about an engine swap in a W204, I saw that no one have atempted/succeded in having a new engine installed.
I have at the moment a 200 CDI engine in my C-class. Is that hard to change it to a V6 engine? I am mostly thinking about the 3.5L M276. I think that quite good candidates could also be the 3.2L AMG M112 and the 3.5L M272, which the latter could be easily acquired as there is an abundance of E/CLS/S350.

From my limited knowledge, I don't think one would need more than the engine, engine mounts, exhaust and ecu. Please correct me if I am wrong.
My car being a diesel, I would most probably also need a new fuel tank, but I can't see what else would need to be changed.
Would the 5G-Tronic gearbox and transmision work with the mentioned engines?

Please keep it friendly, as I've said earlier, my mechanical know-how is limited.
-Thank you

No offense, but "engine swap" and "limited mechanical know-how" doesn't belong together. If you are doing research purely as an academic exercise, kudos to you. HOWEVER this is not economical by any means and looking at it purely for personal use, it would probably best suit you to trade in your car instead.

I don't know everything there is to know about these cars as far as an engine swap. (@VicViper might) however I can tell you that what you mentioned above isn't going to cover it. You can hardly even change a lightbulb with out getting a light on the dash telling you that something is wrong. I would imagine that the effort will not be worth the reward.

No offence taken. I had bought my C-class only a few months ago, so if I really wanted more power, I could have got it from the start. Power is not what I seek, as I use my car 90% in city.
I used my car as an example, just to know what actually would be needed, especially as I saw that a number of people had asked about it. The W204 is MB's most popular model and it made me wonder why no one had attempted an engine swap.

I will give another personal example. A M272 engine can be bought here pretty cheap and alot of parts that I think would be needed are easily available, plus that labor is not very expensive here. That is why I am asking what would the mechanical efford imply.

Putting a m272 or other engine installed in the w204 shouldn't be particularly hard if you're used to pulling engines. The mounts and adapters exist for them to be installed. The big gotcha is really on the electronic side. You likely need the ECU as well. The wiring loom may not be the same and tracking down all the sensors and trouble shooting it all would be a headache.

Generally there are two good reasons to do a swap
1) Your engine is dead the the replacement is cheaper. (generally talking low value cars here, junkyard parts.)
2) You are trying to get something you can't buy locally. Like a v8 in a miata or something like that.

Swapping in an engine you can just trade your car for, or changing from AT to MT, etc. All possible, but generally not a great idea.
