So I know this is probably a dumb question.... But I bought my 2013 c300 sport in January. The tab renewal came in the mail for June. When paying for the car, doesn't than come with license, registration, etc? I thought with the purchase you get a year from the start. I am probably wrong but wanted to make sure. 451 bucks is worth inquiry...

No...the price for the car is the car....unless your finance department included the registration in your finance paperwork. Most dealers have a person who goes to the DMV and gets the plates and registration, the cost will show as registration fees. Check your paperwork. My renewal was $782 in Nevada!

Each state may do it different, not sure, but here in Washington if the car was new or used without current plates, there would have been a seperate fee for lic. & registration for the first year. If the car was used and had current plates, you would have paid to transfer the registration only. Plates would have come due when ever they expired from the previous owner.

I bought mine in Feb, plates came due in July. only paid for the transfer, then paid in july for the following year.
