New owner, few questions

I have been exploring the new car idea, and finally settled on a 2013 C350 yesterday, from CarMax. Basically brand new, few thousand miles. Absolutely love it so far.

I have a few random questions...

With the manufacturer's warranty, I opted out of the CarMax one. Now, reading on MB's website, it sounds like I can extend my MB warranty up until it expires... Can this be done without buying the car from a Mercedes dealer? Most of these things seem like they're purchased at initial buy.

Along those lines, MB offers a service plan. As I will likely service the car every 10k as required, and not more frequently, this sounds like a good deal. However, once again, can I purchase this without buying the car there? It says online that as long as it's before the first service...

I tried to call MB but they are closed today.

And a less specific question, are there any tips or things I should know about my new car?

Thanks.

I got my car of a dealer in Oregon but I do all my services at my local dealership so there shouldn't be an issue with that.

The initial manufacturers warranty covers the car even as a second owner and u bought at a non-mb dealer as long as you're within the time and mileage coverage. I know for my 2010 it's 4yrs, 40k miles. Any MBA dealer is required to fix the car for warranty issues within its warranty period I believe. I also think many dealers will sell you a service plan even if u didn't buy the car there because they WANT you as a paying service customer.

Only tip: post pics of it and enjoy it!!

Check out the local dealers for service plans or discount books. I purchased a coupon book that had two schedules As and a discounted schedule B along with significant discounts on brake jobs and alignments. I actually purchased a 5 yr service plan for my wife's new 2013 C300 but am finding that I could have done better with discounts from the dealer.

The extended warranty can be purchased from MB thru your dealer. Tough call. But anything that goes wrong with the transmission, Comand system or even the steering wheel lock can quickly go over $1000.

Extended warranties usually offer far less coverage than the original manufacturer's. Make sure you know exactly what is covered before signing!

When my infinity dealer purchased 2005 c230s warranty was about to expire I got a letter from the mercedes dealer that I always took my car to regarding extending my warranty so I don't see why you can't extend yours by a mercedes dealer.

Also I was interested in the service plan they had for my current 3rd party dealer purchased 2010 c300 i was told only if my car was under manufacturer warranty or cpo then they can sell me the service. Didnt matter where i bought it from. I'm out of manufacturers warranty so they couldn't sell it to me. But in your case you should be good since you're still within warranty.

Thanks for the help everyone.

Last quick question: I have Keyless-GO, however, I seem to be missing the start/stop button. Keyless-GO includes this feature, yes?

I'm guessing the original owner removed the button and somehow lost it. Will this work as a replacement? Are there other sources for a part like this, sans visiting a dealer?
