White smoke?
Anyone with experience from white smoke coming out of the exhaust?
Earlier today, I was driving on the freeway and noticed that there were smoking in the rear view mirror. Originally I thought it was another car behind me with a bad exhaust, but after moving onto another freeway, I noticed it was my car.
It looked like I somehow managed to downshift my car to the 4 gear, and was stuck on the 4th gear driving 65 mph for a good 10 minutes. The car's temperature stayed normal (a little above the half way mark). When I got to my destination, I opened the hood and noticed that there was a slight burning smell. It's not coolant as it was not sweet.
The car felt fine driving after dinner, but I'm curious if is any permanent damage.
Thoughts?

I personally think the car is fine. The car should be able to do that. There is no limit for how long a gear can stay in. Yes I have to say that if your pushing your rpm too high, then it will cause damage to the engine/transmission. Just watch it tomorrow and a few days after for anything out of the ordinary. If you suspect something, I'd go to the dealer for a check up
