Battery Issue
Hey guys,
I think my battery went bad in my 2009 C350. I went and tried to start it and it would not turn over. There was a message that came up on the dash. I was able to jump start it and drive it without any issue. I guess my two main questions from here are
1. What should I expect to pay at the dealership for a new battery?
2. Is it okay to go with just a regular battery say an Optima or something with as much electronics that these cars have and be safe on the car?
3. Im guessing it is easy to do and I can swap my own battery correct?

i spent $180 at my dealership for a new battery, keep in mind in most of our cars they have a vent plug to attach to the battery that a lot of the after market ones don't have. I read a lot online about these batteries for merc cars and most people recommended to just go back OEM, so thats what I did.

Has anybody had issues with CEL or other codes popping up after a battery change? I saw a youtube vid this morning talking about an OBDII reader adapter which plugs into the port, then to another 12v source. you keep that plugged in while you change the battery, and supposedly, no codes or loss of saved settings.
Any thoughts on this?
