If you do your own oil change, this question is for you

I am looking to do my own oil change and I know what the book says about what should I use but there are other brands that would be a match. I see Pentosin, Redline, Royal Purple and Liqui-Moly that are equally good if not better. Anybody using any of these brands? If so, what's your experience with them.

Just using Mobil 1 0-40. Don't want any warranty issues should a problem arise.

I agree, when I get out of warranty, I'll put whatever I please in it. Just using the playbook until then. I really am fond of amsoil products myself. I run their synthetics in my other cars and motorcycles with no problem.

When the time comes and I'm out of warranty, I'm going back to Amsoil/Redline. Any of my cars that are out of warranty by default gets these 2 brands.

I heard good things about Royal Purple and I had my 1st experience with it on a single cylinder air compressor pump a few weeks ago. While it may be good for automotive use, the 1 problem I see with it is that the liquid itself is "PURPLE", and looking at it from the oil level window, you wouldn't know if it's dirty (compared to other non-detergent oils where the color is clear).
