Need a little insight
Hello,
11'
40k Miles
Still in warranty
I recently noticed there was a bulge on the rubber door trim (front right door) that goes on top of the door and down to the chrome trim near the side view mirror. I attempted taking it off to fix that bulge and noticed that inside that rubber is a metal lining that had snapped which was causing it to bulge outward. Fast forward to today I took it in to get it fixed, knowing the cost of the part itself ($140.00) in case they decided to be a PITA and not cover it under warranty which is exactly the case when i first arrived there, claiming that the chrome molding I wrapped in carbon fiber involved me in taking the rubber off in order to take the chrome molding off near the windows, and according to everyone that has done this mod should know that statement is strictly false as that would have happened to the other side if such steps were necessary.
Moving forward, I received a call today letting me know that the repair was done and the total came out to $363.53 Tax,labor, part included. Which for starters is absurd as it takes a minute to take any rubber molding off, ( if you've done a sub & amp install you'd understand) and it can't take anymore than 5 minutes to install it.
I've had prior issues with this dealer, getting MBUSA involved, having an 08 c300 bought back as they sold it as CPO which was clearly not and also calling them out on their fraud ways of not following the WIS (workshop info system) regarding the transmission service . I feel I am being harassed every time I go in their because I have in a sense been more knowledgeable than the service advisers and service manager have wanted me to be.
Currently I still have the loaner and I do not want to pay 363.53 for a bull**** repair tomorrow morning when I know it's a full on lie to "get back at me"
Question: If you were in my shoes, or have been in my shoes what would you do in this situation?

MBWorld Fanatic!
Sounds like you kind of set yourself up for trouble. You should have negotiated/argued before agreeing to get the work performed. You still likely have leverage through MBUSA to get this covered under warranty, but the fact that you essentially signed a blank check prior to knowing the costs involved puts you in a bad spot.
Using logic/common sense/old fashioned debating, make your case with the dealership and try to be nice...at least to start.
Good Luck.
