I have seen a few c-class that has that. I think the prolonged exposure to the sun is making the coating to peel. You only have three choices:
1. remove, strip, repaint with Gloss black
2. scrape and apply vinyl (glossy or whatever finish you want) film
3. remove, go to the dealer and be prepared to cry when you see the bill for the replacement part.
Choose well my friend.

what is that inset rectangle piece above the door in the last picture ?
I have some discoloration on that part of my c250. I've been waxing the trim to try and keep it from getting any worse.

It's funny you made this post today because last night I noticed some paint chipping next to the roof rack inlets. I can't believe my paint is chipping and my interior is ripping...I'll probably get them repainted later when it is actually noticeable.

I got the same peeling on mine, $170.00 + tax for that strip. I passed, because mine only peel @ the roof rack mounting hole (about 2 inches), I try to take the strip off, repaint it, but the strip is so thin, I afraid to pry it out will break it, so I live with that peeling !!! What a MB quality !!!

A bigger and easier question would be is anyone's roof mouldings NOT peeling?
Seriously though, mine were peeling, so I took them off, sanded them down, repainted with black and then clear coated them. They didn't come out so hot, and I spent a good 3 days on them, a total of Id say 4 hours of actual labor. I think I am just going to get some gloss black vinyl and wrap them. I'm doing my roof soon so we will see how that turns out
I wouldn't bother buying new ones regardless of price, unless they were less than $50.00. The same thing will just happen again in a couple years. They are very easy to take off. Just open your hood, start at the front, and pull up with firm and even pressure. Try not to bend them, just pull up and the first clip will unsnap. Then move back about a foot, and do it again. Keep working back until all the clips are unsnapped and it will just pull off.
