W204 722.9 Dealer Fluid Service Questions
Car: 2010 C250 4MATIC Sport – Canadian Car
Mileage: 101,000 kms (2nd fluid change)
Hello all,
On July 22nd , 2014 I had my car in for service at my local MB Dealer for my second transmission service and I was told everything went ok but immediately the transmission or torque converter sounded slightly different when driving (a subtle whirring/whining at times at higher speeds but gearshifts are as smooth as ever). I had no hints of any problem before having the fluid change. I am lucky that since my car is a later W204/722.9 so it has the drain plug for the torque converter so I made sure to request that the torque converter be drained as well.
I was going to let it go but I looked more closely at my invoice today and noticed the dealer only charged me for 8 quarts of ATF despite my research showing that the total fluid used during the change should be close to 10 quarts! I was also not charged for a new filter (!). You would think changing the filter would be just a little important….
So my question is should I be taking it back to that dealer to check (typical MB – doesn’t even have an ATF dipstick so I cannot even check myself easily after warming up the fluid). I will be sending an email to the service manager to confirm.
Has anyone ever done a change with only 8 quarts of fluid? Has anyone had issues with the 722.9 after having all the fluid changed? What sort of questions should I be asking?
I cannot seem to find my other invoice for the 1st service at 60,000kms so I cannot reference what amount of ATF was used. I have not had any prior issues with this dealer before.
Any assistance here would be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Dan
