2011 C300 won't crank

On Friday morning, I cranked my C300 up and backed out of my garage. When I tried to crank it a few minutes later to go to work, it did not crank. After work, it was jumped off, and I drove it a few miles to a car parts store to check the battery. A store rep tested the battery and said it was good. I drove it home with no problem. I called a certified MB maintenance shop to schedule a check on the alternator. They said the alternator is good too if I was able to drive to and from the store. They said it was probably be alright. Later that evening, I drove it to dinner and stopped at a teller before going to Wal-Mart. It wouldn't crank. Had to get jumped off again on Friday night. It didn't crank on Saturday and won't crank on Sunday. Lights and alarms come on when I unlock the door and insert the key. I have never had any issues before now.

Has anyone had any such issues or suggestions about what the problem might be? Costs for maintenance? It cranks right up after it has been jumped off.

I know you have already said you had the battery checked. But why don't you have it checked at the dealership? I think it would be a more definite answer. The way I see it is that the battery does charge but doesn't hold it. That's why you can make short trips but leaving it for a time leads to draining of the battery. I'm sure an 2011 you probably still have warranty so they'd change it no charge if need be.

This happened to me last week, I replaced the battery and haven't had any issues since.

Hi,
I'm new to this forum, but have owned MBs for over 25 years. This idea is really old school, but it's also free. If this happens to you again before you do anything try turning the key to "on", put your foot on the brake, and move the shifter into neutral. Then try to start it. I don't know what Mercedes calls it now, but years ago automatic transmissions had a neutral safety switch. If the switch malfunctioned the car wouldn't start. Jump starting put enough current in the system to jump a bad or intermittent switch.
