W204 KEY UNLOCKS, NO DASH LIGHTS,STEERING COLUM LOWERS,NO START.ADVICE APPRECIATED
I've been a member of this forum for a long time and have always used all this information here to solve or answer almost all of my questions.
I'm FREAKING THE F OUT
My 09 c350 has been running perfect and only recently started giving me problems with the battery feeling weak when it starts. Other than that I've never had any issues. I drove the car all afternoon and returned home. When I was getting ready to go out for a stroll this evening the car wouldn't start.
As I approached the car did respond to unlocking and proceeded to beep, light up, and unlock the doors (normal behavior) but then as I put the key in the ignition the display in the speed odometer read please take key out of ignition. However, it usually tells me that when I turn the car off, not prior to turning it on. When I insert the key I hear two minimal clicking sounds (some times three times)coming from the steering column, but the display will first tell me to remove the key before you hear the (very light clicking)
My car does have the navigation so I found the hidden menu and checked the logs which reported
1) lost com. With BTPC
2)ecu reset recovery at 94720km about 158 miles driven since then.
This is a completely stock vehicle which has been babied since I purchased it.
No extended warranty and to make matters worse it's my only mode of transportation at the moment.
I don't know wether it could be the key, steering wheel lock or the ecu (or anything else for that matter)
Any advice would be much appreciated.
