I was wondering if anyone knows what type of soap do most coin car washes use- the high pressure soap that shoots out of the spray gun? Would you use this on your car? It has to be better than the strong detergents used at touchless washes.

Cheap. No. Why does it have to be better? Probably for them, cheaper is better. Hand wash with Adam's products.

As a former car wash owner I can tell you I used products from Turtle Wax. Each owner mixes the amount of soap and water to maximize profits, so most of the time it's just enough to get the job done. You can usually tell a good car wash operator by the condition of his equipment.
So to answer your question, in my opinion it is generally safe.

I use Chemical Guys products. If you have your own pressure washer and are looking for a car wash type experience, Chemical Guys and a few other companies sell attachments for pressure washers and soaps to use to cover your car in foam before using a good wash mitt or pad.
