CGI Hard intercooler pipes?
Hey guys,
So I think everyone with a CGI is familiar with the limited modifications available for performance. I have been thinking, and given how soft our intercooler piping is, I think we would benefit substantially from solid piping. It MUST reduce some turbo lag.
To that end, does anyone know of a manufacturer making it? If not, are any of the MBWorld sponsors interested in looking into it?
I would 100% be making that purchase

You are absolutely right, our cars would greatly benefit from having stainless steel intercooler piping. I did little search on the Web, and haven't found anyone manufacturing it. We have 2 options:
1. Buy a generic kit and cut the pipes to need and get them welded.
2. Go to a shop that specializes in such fabrications.

Actually Rado and another company in Taiwan that I can't remember the name of right now, make FMIC replacements that use the same style attachment as OEM but with a hardpipe. Maybe you could ask Rado first? Another option would be to just run stainless steel wired silicone pipes and clamps.

Hmmm, I am happy to make my own. I am a little concerned about the merc clip on fittings potentially not sealing well. I guess it shouldn't be a problem.
Will look hot with some nice shiny tubing![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
sigh, I guess I will add that to the list. At least it is easy to remove the stock piping and measure it up....

If you're willing to use clamps then it's quite easy and cheap enough to make, in fact just go to your local exhaust shop that has a mandrel bender. Add some silicone couplings and clamps and you're all set.
