Just got myself a 2014 c350 that I am very pleased with. It only took about a month or two of lurking these forums to have the mod bug bite me - specifically wanting to do the amg diffuser/quad tip combo that I have seen some members doing here. In my opinion, it makes the car look more aggressive and mean.
My question to you all: Do you find that non-amg cars with the AMG diffuser and quad tips come off as..."poseur-esque" (for a lack of a better term)?
NOTE: I agree with most here that if you were to add the AMG badge and such that it's a big no-no but let's say in this case if said non-AMG car were to have its relevant badges on (c300,c350, etc) or even debadged.
This is the same as adding the AMG wheels or roof style spoiler. You seem to know the rules, as long as you DO NOT put a C63 badge on the car you are fine. Hell, the Sport is designed to look like the AMG version for they guys who cant drop 80k on a car.
Im not a fan of de badgeing. I do not understand the reason. Are they not proud of what they purchased? We can almost tell what it is without the badges, a 250 has one exhaust pipe, the 350 has real leather and 18" wheels most of the time and anything i between is most likely a c300. Just my .02
acarter53: Thanks for your input. I agree with you, but to each his/her own regarding debadging.
I don't know though, it seems like most cars that have quad exhausts are powerhouses for the most part (e.g. BMW M3, MB C63, etc.) that are capable of putting down some serious power. It seems like cars such as the c250/c300/c350 would just be mimicking a c63 with the quad tips. Not necessarily a bad thing, but is it generally frowned upon by AMG guys or MB guys in general similar to slapping on an AMG badge?
The only thing I would consider "poser-ish" would be putting C63 AMG badging on a non-C63. This also includes the license plate frame since it clearly states AMG.
Exhaust tips with engraved AMG don't and woudn't bother me. You can barely see it. AMG wheels don't bother me either.
Whenever someone adds cosmetic touches that look good (like quad tips) i appreciate them. As people have said, adding a fake badge would be overstepping the line. I say if it makes you happy, do the quad tips and a nice diffuser. I have my car mostly debadged too and think it looks much cleaner.

Because some of us believe that a de-badged car provides the cleanest look. What's under the hood is my business, regardless of make/model/year. All cars that pass through my stable is de-badged at point of sale (even the hybrids).
yea, some people prefer debadging for the cleaner look, makes no difference to me honestly (unless it's then rebadged with a different model to deceive others which is just downright wrong).
I'm not one to pay too much attention to what others think, but I wouldn't want to step on AMG-owner's toes by getting the amg diffuser and quad tips. I don't plan on debadging my car and certainly don't plan on adding an AMG badge either. But I wonder if people react like "oh, this guy is trying to make his car an AMG" when in reality people just like AMG parts on their non-amg cars
This entire subject is hilarious. Mercedes sells an AMG package for nearly every one of it's non-AMG vehicles, littering AMG badges on the floor mats, wheels, etc.
You're actually concerned some guy on the internet made an arbitrary decision to consider AMG engravings okay, but an AMG license plate frame too much?
These are the type of discussions I can see high school kids having on the civic forums about slapping "VTEC" decals or "Type R" badges on their cars.
Who cares. Do what you want.
Concerned? Not quite. I made this thread solely to get some opinions and a general consensus in the MB world (this is my first MB). The opinions expressed on this forum don't sway what I personally think.
This thread is specifically asking about doing a quad tip setup on a fairly low-powered car compared to a c63 for example, I don't see any mention of a license plate frame other than by one poster. If this thread came across as one to argue about badges and amg packages, I apologize because that's not my intention. Sure, there are amg packages you can get from MB, but surely there are no options to get a quad exhaust/tips from the factory on your non-amg car.
Anyways, my question would be no different be it a c300 we're talking about or a 328i with quad tip setup.

FWIW you'll get a very different response on the AMG subforum. A sizable portion of C63 owners seem to think that if you don't own an AMG model there should be nothing that says AMG or mimics the AMG look on the car. They are pretty big ***** about it really.
Here you'll mostly get people saying its okay as long as you don't badge it AMG.
In the real world hardly anyone will know the difference. I put quads and the diffuser on mine because I like it and it makes it stand out from all the c300's on the road.
Bottom line is do it if you like it. Its your car. You're the one who has to live with it day to day.

After getting into an argument with an AMG owner about this, I started paying attention while on the road and saw quad tips stock on cars that made norther of 200hp if they're lucky. Real common on older cadilacs and some pontiacs. I know some 4 cylinder cars even have them. Quads vs dual is just a style choice if you already have dual mufflers.

Thanks for the input, TheRulesLawyer, I didn't even know that. I guess it's not really that uncommon of a mod to do after all. Although I do like dual pipes, I've always been a huge fan of just the look of quad tips so I think either way I'm going to go ahead and give this mod a shot. Thanks again everyone! If AMG owners get offended, oh well

Not in the US. In the US, the only things that are AMG badged besides the actual AMG cars are the wheels.

If you look at official accessories you can get AMG all over your car. Valve caps, door pins, etc. They're more than happy to help you AMG up your car. That's the official stuff.
As an AMG owner, I find this extremely offensive.......NOT.
Go for it, I think the thing that pisses off AMG owners more than anything is the badges. That's when someone is pretending to be something its not. Not the actual modifications. Quad exhaust looks awesome. Go for it if it's what you want.

So I had them install them. Had Jimmy at R1 motorsports (Chatsworth, CA) install an xpipe, race mufflers and remove the 2 single resonators in front of the mid section resonator. installed an amg style bumper to accommodate the quad tips. So now it sounds better. I installed amg pedals because, not that I have ever owned and AMG, but my c230 sport came with amg style pedals and I liked the feel and looks of them. all weather mats, new kenwood head unit, modified/manufactured cubby to place a garmin gps within. Even utilized the switch in the cubby door to turn the gps off and on, just like it operated the OEM lcd. Which by the way, becomes dead and useless except for a sunglass holder upon the replacement of the HU. also an H&R coil over kit. It's a C300. I de-badged and left the hood and trunk emblem in place, but repainted graphite.
Anyways I think I spent too much money, but it was fun and will get me around for the next few years in comfort....... So the pesky AMG imprint on the top of the tips really aren't bothering me at this point, because I know what I have. A C300 with an aggressive look.
i doubt much people really care, the fasted and most high powered AMG only has 2 visual exhaust tips, the SL65 black series.
if you like your car with quad tips just go for it. audi S versions also have them and its not like an S5 is really that much of a super car

How could they say that? Our sports are advertised has having AMG cladding. My Wife has a CLK430 that has AMG stamped on every wheel and AMG cladding. I also read a blurb from Mercedes introducing the C300 AMG Sport to some country..
over here there is't even a "sport pack", its called AMG pack
just like BMW does with M mercedes found out everything with AMG on it sells so they use it as much as possible.
I've got a C250 sedan with non-staggered wheels and Luxury trim. The opposite of anything AMG. I'd like to replace my upright star hood ornament with an AMG logo. Is that bad?
Just kidding, just kidding.
I say mod your car however you like. It's your money and your car. I only get sad when I see a refined Benz look like a Honda or Mitsubishi due to BAD mods.

Right, those are accessories. I was referring to the actual AMG badge, like the OP stuck on his hood. My car has AMG smattered all over it, but not the badge.
