2011 C250 Intake Pod vs Panel
Howdy,
So, Ive been doing my research and all for a good week now and I've found myself in a bit of a pickle.
Well I was looking at getting getting a "Cold Air" intake from burger motorsports, but from another thread there is a shocking rubbing issue which causes holes in the filter. To resolve this issue the same thread recommend a smaller filter (K&N RU-5111). But there is a head issue as the filter is exposed.
So i then started looking at K&N panel filters which people say is much better than stock and BMS, as it isn't sucking in a whole lot of hot air.
I guess what I'm getting to is. Is the pod filter that bad compared to a panel, in terms of heat/hot air? Honestly I'm really only interested in the sound the pod makes, cause I know power gain isn't that great or noticeable, but if there are more benefits with a panel i might reconsider.

Either get the bms intake for the noise only or don't bother doing anything. In my opinion, all the K&N panel filter is going to do is let more dirt into your engine. Since we go 10k between oil changes I would not want this happening. But, if you want the sound, get the bms intake, but consider replacing the filter with a non-oiled variety if you can find one to spec. You won't really notice any gains either way (except for the placebo effect) so go for noise or don't bother.
