2013 C300 reverse camera
Hi all. First post for me here. I have a 2013 C300 with command. I am adding a rear view camera but can't get it to work. I have read a lot about how to do it here on the forums and have done everything step by step but only get a black screen when the car is put into reverse. I entered the hidden menu and turned on the rear camera. I connected the FAKRA connector to my command unit, ran a cable to the trunk and hooked up the camera to 12volts (not the reverse light). When I put the car in reverse I get a black screen and "check surroundings" displayed but no picture. I have power to the camera and I've tried 4 different cameras. Is there something I'm missing here? Is there something else that needs to be enabled as well? Your help would be appreciated. This is very frustrating. It's a Canadian car. I can't remember the model of comand but it's the one that has the SD card slot in the dash.

Find the reverse camera option in the display settings. The basic menu on the COMAND screen, it's in there somewhere, not the hidden menu but the one open to anyone. If it still doesn't work try and experiment with the different camera types in the hidden menu.

the NTG4 system does't just support any camera so maybe you have bad luck on that part

NTG4 or NTG4.5 is the same thing for that matter...
its called 4.5 for a reason

I'm sure your not powering the camera properly. or maybe your FAKRA cable is not good

The camera has 12 volts all the time the car is on.
Bad FAKRA is possible I guess. That is the only part that I don't have a spare that I can check with another. I've tried multiple cameras and multiple cables from the FAKRA to the camera and multiple camera settings.
This is very frustrating for a simple job.

Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't 2010 and later models already pre wired for a reverse camera? And if it is, it should be almost plug and play since you've turned the feature on in engineering mode.

My Comand only had one green port on the back that wasn't being used.

I'm not sure about pre wiring post 2010. I didn't see a video cable or power connection in the underside of the trunk lid.

It needs the left one for de cam, if that portis full allready change that one the right side

OK, that's an older command. Mine has 2 extra green ports on the bottem.

Did you enable de aux button in de hidden menu?

Yes I did try enabling Aux as well. It made no difference.

What are the odds of the FAKRA cable being bad? Has anyone else experienced a bad FAKRA cable?
I bought mine from MidCity.

I walked away from this for a few months because I've been very busy but I would like to get this working now that I have some free time.
