Can't believe how they managed to mess up my tail light recall fix

My wife took her car in last friday for the fix. Took almost 2 hours so that kind of pissed her off.

Then she got home and since I don't trust any dealer, I had her run through a check. I stood behind the car, tail lights...check, left turn sig....check, right turn sig....check, brake lights....brake lights...are you stepping on the brakes dear??

Well low and behold they 'did the fix' and didn't even check their own work. Brake lights didn't work.

So I called them up, kind of read them the riot act and said I was bringing the car in Saturday to be made right.

I got there, they got it in right away and fell all over themselves apologizing. I just kept asking how the hell they could do a fix like that and not check their work, then send my wife out in Orlando Traffic with no brake lights at this most crazy time of year. About 30 minutes later they bring it out and about 3 different stories on what was wrong, none of which made sense. I asked if they had any paperwork on the fix before I left and they said no, they just pushed it through so I didn't have to wait.

Of course they did not paperwork, they didn't want any kind of trail on that FUBAR.

This was on top of the total incompetence they displayed in July with my transmission service. I will likely never take my car back to them again, they can not be trusted. I told them that.

I mean WTF....how can you do work like that and not check what the hell you've done.

So...just a reminder, if you get the recall done, it can't hurt to double check things.....just to make sure.

That's a good rule of thumb for any maintenance/modifications that you take your car in to have. Remember that most dealerships in the United States are not owned by Mercedes at all, but are franchised. So, if the dealership you took to was that incompetent, You'll probably have better results at another one.

When I took mine in for taillights I was in and out under 45 minutes. Other than them trying to over charge me for my next planned maintenance, my visit was pretty pleasant. Regardless, I'm sorry about your experience man.

Sorry to hear that, but I'm not surprised if you are referring to the South Orlando MB. They are completely clueless and just running around like headless chickens most of the time.

Well, that's a bummer. It was MBNO as a matter of fact, If I ever needed to take it to a dealer again I was going to try South Orlando.

I bought it at the Melbourne dealership, It's a fair drive away but might be worth my while.

I understand a mistake now and then, but this is basic, and the lying to be regarding the trans service is just a little much.

I've already resigned myself to the fact I'll do the next trans service myself to avoid that crap. So baring any more recalls, maybe I won't have to worry about a dealer.

Argh. Yeah stay away from MBSO!

If you need a good shop, then I would recommend going to FS-Tuning on East Colonial. Fabian is very knowledgable and he can def do it a lot cheaper than the dealership! He used to work for Mercedes and he only does work on German cars. I've used him for the past 3 years and only had good experiences with him.

Tell him Anders with the black C350 sent you and he'll take good care of you!
