I've searched around and can't seem to find this. Has anyone done a successful addition of the media interface to a NTG4.5 unit?
I have a 2012 c250 sedan that has navigation, bluetooth streaming, DVD player, sd card slot, backup camera, aux input (stereo mini 3.5mm), and usb input. It currently doesn't have an input for the old iPod connect (not the lightning plug). My problem is that I have 50gb of music so I can't currently connect my iPod via the current usb becasue it doesn't allow me to organize and sift through the music in the simple fashion the ipod was built for.
I am willing to buy the parts and convert it myself. If anyone has experience with this please let me know.
The usb interface is just a generic connection that reads the files as if it were a hard drive. The media interface allows the iPod to fully integrate so you can control in the same fashion the iPod was built for. I can't play playlists via usb. It doesn't recognize them. And browsing the music isn't easy. Usb is not an option for me. I assume I have to replace the usb interface and add the media interface for this to work. I attached a photo of the folders the usb interface reads off my iPod. Tell me how you'd browse that.
