I've had a FT-MB204-DC remote start unit in my 2011 C300, paired with a DR-3100 drone mobile for two years now.

I've used the Drone Mobile basic and premium services during that time.

Their cell service and android application are buggy and unreliable with this data controller and the W204. The unit will lock up frequently, not respond, not start or tell me I exceeded my 5 starts and refuse to start.

So being at the end of my yearly service contract, I decided to simply upgrade to a 3000ft remote kit, instead of renewing my contract.

NOTE. The DC remote start can be operated from the Mercedes Key FOB however the mercedes FOB only has a range of about 10 feet.

The install process is simple and takes 20 minutes.

NOTE: I chose a 2-Way kit but it looks like my Data Controller doesn't go both ways.

EDIT: IT DOES work 2-way!!

I pressed the start button on the 2-way remote today and received an audible and visible confirmation back. Plus, two green leds (on the 2-way remote) will also flash while the car is running. I believe they turn red when the run time remaining is at 50% etc.





Disconnect the drone mobile unit.

1. unplug your Drone Mobile unit.
2. Plug in your 4 pin or 6 pin antenna. (The kit I used has a 4 pin antenna).




Find a spot on the windshield for the antenna install.




My remote kit came with 2 remotes. one 1-way blue led and one 2-way orange led.




After everything is connected, just follow the simple remote programming instructions. Test your remotes (lock/unlock) and you are done!

Put that drone mobile on Ebay or keep it for later.

 

Since the 2-way features seem to work, I've decided to spend $50 more and get the LCD remote version with a 1 mile range and Spread Spectrum technology. RF-2W9000-SS, has a 6 pin antenna. The Programming is the same as before.
