Receive texts on display?

I have a 2013 C250 with navi and HK audio and I hook my phone up via Bluetooth. I've read that people can receive texts on the display via Bluetooth also. How do I set that up!?! Thanks

I have the same car, and setup. If you use the COMAND knob, at the top, navigate to PHONE. Once you're on that screen, at the bottom, select the TXT MSG option. I think once your phone is paired, the texts automatically download to the car. You can read them onscreen while the car is stopped, but when in motion, that feature is disabled, but you can have them read aloud.

I find this interesting. I have 2012 c250 with comand but Im able to read (see) them when my car is driving. No mods on the command, straight factory. I just find it interesting that they tweak small things like this between years.

Mine works while the car is in motion as well. 2014 C300

If you have an iPhone, make sure in the MB profile in bluetooth you have "show notifications" enabled.

It's working for me now. The txt msg option under phone is only selectable when I receive a text while connected to the car.

Ah yes we probably should've mentioned that it will only display texts messages you receive while connected. Glad it's working for you now!

Odd...I read through the rest of the comments, and while I am not able to read texts while driving (but able to audibly play them), it looks like my car uploads all my texts, whether they come in while I'm driving, or came into my phone while I was out of my car. It's a neat feature, but I don't really ever use it.

Maybe it's my phone - I use an HTC ONE (M7).

non nav 2013 C, i can view incoming texts while driving by scrolling to PHONE. I had to enable the option on my phone (iphone 6, also worked on my 5 and 4).

I gotta be honest...does anyone actually use this functionality? I have it in mine and I don't use it.

It's not so much using the functionality, but my car has the feature, I just paired the phone, and set it up, and leave it alone. I may have actually used it once while sitting at a light...but that's about it.

I use it almost daily on my drive home to gauge the importance of the txt. Then open my phone and respond if I want. I never use the read back function though.

Plus Texas just passed a hands free driving law. No texting or talking in the car unless u use a hands free kit.

How do you setup the read back function?
