Tires
Just purchased a c-300 4matic. The front tires were worn out. The rears are only 1/2 gone. I replaced the front with new.. Is it a big deal if the fronts and back tires aren't the same, as it is a AWD?

To be honest if I were you I'd replace the other 2 as well asap.
Different circumference tires (wear levels, tread, etc) between two different brands of tires is risky with AWD.
edit: and you may find the car handles like s*** with different tires on the front/rear

If they are all the same tire except for size, I don't see a problem. The differential already handles the difference in circumference between front and back acceptably. If the smallest difference in circumference was really a problem, it must be a terrible system.
Note: One bad tire needs to be replaced with new means you need to buy 4 new tires???? I don't think so. Only at the unscrupulous tire store or dealer trying to sell you unneeded tires.

Good info here. I used to think all 4 tires had to be the same size on a AWD.. But the c300 sport comes with different size tires, front to back, from the factory... Seems they know what they are talking about.

you don't have to do all 4 at the same time but if you can afford it I would get them all done now. You will notice a handling difference running different tires. Just my two cents
