A new engine experience for my 2013 C250. While stopped at a light, the engine died. I didn't realize it 'til I tried to go. I don't believe any warning lights were on. I did get it restarted OK, but the identical "C" behind me wasn't happy about the delay.
New engine experience, because it IS a NEW engine. Installed a few weeks ago. Strange. No repeat so far.
It's funny you mention this, because when my C was new (not even broken in yet), it did this exact same thing to me once. It only ever did it once, but it gave me pause for quite a while - it just died with nary a shake.

Well, I'd been hearing a whirring sound that followed engine rpm for some time. I took it in to my MB dealer to be looked at, suspecting only a pulley bearing failure. Pulley was fine. They worked on it for over six weeks trying to eliminate the noise (still only minor IMO.) They dropped the transmission, replaced the oil pump, and even ordered and installed a new balance shaft (which had to be sent from the production line in Germany). Nothing worked. So MBUSA ordered a new engine for it. Guess they have the old one for analysis.
For my inconvenience they reimbursed me for four months lease payments. So no complaints here. Still, they would have been ahead to replace the car early in the process.
