Yep, the forum was right (tire swap)
Between one rear tire being well into the yellow and another that picked up a screw, I followed the wisdom of the forum and replaced all four of the OEM Conti Pro-Contact (rim protectors) with Conti Extreme DWS tires.
Wouldn't you know it, they are EXACTLY as every one described. They do a good job of taking the edge off (not completely masking) of rough roads and expansion joints, but also takes the edge off of handling & have a tendency to follow fresh road grooves a bit more than the OEM rim protectors.
If it hadn't been one of those "need to make this decision NOW!" situations I probably would have gotten a set of 17" rims for the DWS & then fitted some nice summer performance tires to my 18" AMG wheels. I suppose I just add that to the "mods I want to do" list and get to it later.
Anyway, Props to the folks on the Forum as your sage advice proved to be very sage indeed.
