Help With Tire Sizes
Hey guys I know there's a thread with wheels and offsets but I have a quick question on what tire set up to run. I have 18x8 et 35 wheels all around and I don't want to run a square tire set up. I got the wheels for a deal or else I would have gotten staggered rims also but Im working with what I have. The previous owner had a square 225/40 set up all but can anyone suggest a tire set up?
I was thinking 225/40R18 in the front but I don't know about the rear maybe 245/35? or 235/40? Thanks guys I appreciate it

As far as I know - for 7.5J perfect (standard) fit is 225/x/x; for 8.0J perfect (standard) fit is 235/x/x so I think that you can put 235/40/18 on you rims and will fit perfectly.
Otherwise different sizes will change the predefined diameter of the tyres and can cause not correct of speedo or even malfunction of ESP and etc.
For exaple:
- you want to leave 225/40/18 in the front, which is 637mm diameter
- you wish to put 245/35/18 in the back, which is 629mm diameter
The differnce is acceptable - only 8mm (acceptable is not more or less than 10mm).
To be in the correct setup and remain 225/40/18 in the front, the back should be 255/35/18, because there is only 1mm differnce. But on 8J rim it is not an option, because the tyre is too wide and will puff in the middle.
Overview - yes, you can leave 225/40/18 in the front and 235/40/18 in the rear. But keep in mind that the rear will be with have 8mm large diameter than front.
