Designation on a used car

Hi Folks,

I am considering the purchase of a 2007 c230, odd thing is that the designation on the rear of the car is "CLS 300".

Can anyone shed some light on why this might be. I've done some hunting around the internet and am a little stumped.

Thanks.

The original owner rebadged. Go by what the VIN designates the car as.

Thanks. Is this a common thing or is the original owner letting letting the world know he is a d-bag?

I've seen this in Atlanta too. W203 C230 rebadged as a CLK 320. Can't imagine a single reason why anyone would do this
