If it's a sealant, you can layer wax on top of it but some sealants work better on their own at beading water and being resistant to dust or dirt. So sometimes depending on the sealant, a wax on top can make things worse or better.
If it's a wax find out exactly what wax (each brand has multiple types of waxes) and then you can find a spray wax to apply as a "topper" after you wash either as you are drying or if you prefer you can dry the car and apply it after.

From that link, I have personally used Sonax, Pinnacle and Sonus' paint coating system. I prefer the Sonus from those three.


The bottle costs around $300 and usually the installation labor costs $700. It takes 3 days to fully dry in a closed room.
