Recirculate/Fresh air mode

Just purchased 2012 MB 250. I've read the manual and still don't understand how the recirculation button works. Manual says push the right side climate control button to change from recirculate to outside air. When I push the button it comes on red but I don't see the pic of whether it is in recirculate or outside like the pic in the manual. What am I doing wrong?

I figured it out by watching an online video. When button is pressed the red light comes on and that means your in recirculate mode. The pic doesn't change on the button.

Wow...

Yes, light in means Recirculation mode is turned on.

The picture on the button is permanent, it does not change..it's stamped/printed on the button lol
