RWD influence on purchase decision
I learned to drive at 15 using a rear-wheel-drive car. In 1993, at 16, I got my license. For the next several years, I drove a RWD car until it died. In 1996, i bought a front-wheel-drive, and drove FWD cars until 2001, the year I got my first C (W203). The handling difference between FWD, and RWD, is night, and day. Ever since my return to RWD, I haven't looked back. I can see staying with RWD from here on out.
What I'd like to know is, how important was it for you to have a RWD car? How much did RWD factor into your purchase decision? Was FWD even a consideration when shopping around?

It was very important. Being young 20's, having a fast car will the ability to sometimes fling it around a corner came in handy. Also the group of guys I have out are all with bmw's audi subies g35's. I used to have a ml430 when bought my C so I didn't really need an AWD.

My first few cars were all FWD and relatively quick for the times( 90's SHO, Probe GT, GTI etc) Then I got my quattro Audi and moved to a RWD BMW. Ideally I would want an AWD car just because I like the feel of it, but since there weren't any 350s 4matic in the US, I went with RWD again. So that was technically my compromise.
I don't think I'd ever own a FWD car again. That's why even the CLA which I really like is out of the question, because FWD based AWD is still mostly FWD.
