Performance Muffler vs. X-Pipe

Which would you guys recommend? I know that many owners choose the x-pipe life, but has anyone ever tried a performance muffler?

The x-pipe is a cheap alternative for more sound. No real gains from it.

You could potentially get sound, performance, mpg, etc. with new mufflers but would cost much more.

This. Everything around exhausts is pretty subjective. Some like it loud and obnoxious, others like it nice and subtle. Go on youtube and find videos of what you like. Just make sure you're looking at your exact model ( don't expect a 250 to sound like a 350 or AMG etc.)
The xpipe is pretty much unanimously the best compromise for most with the V6 models. It's cheap and makes a pretty good change in exhaust sound.

I personally thing that the Meisterschaft and Eisenmman race sound the best of the full exhaust systems(not a fan of the Magnaflow mufflers I've heard) but the price is pretty prohibitive for most.

You can get the lawson 2.25" xpipe as well, that is is like $30ish from amazon. X pipe will just give sound but have to rev really high to get any decent noise.

I have Magnaflow race mufflers on my C350. It is deep and got a nice rumble to it, there is some drone to it, but overall I'm happy with it. Would probably have preferred a Meisterschaft, but they also carry a much higher price tag!

Any chance you have an xpipe with those mufflers? Looking into changing the mufflers but fear the drone along with everything haha.

Don't do it. There's a youtube clip of 300 or 350 with the xpipe and magnaflow mufflers and it doesn't sound good IMO.
