I can understand this
If/when this happens to mine, I will attempt to purchase a new screen and replace it myself. You can find the LCD panels on ebay (there's one on there now for $70 shipped from China, item #201161757392). IIRC, the panels are made by LG. While LG is a South Korean company, they do have a manufacturing plant in China.
There are instructions online (eg, youtube) for how to remove the comand unit and then the pop-up screen assembly.

This type of problem, on an LCD screen, normally means the screen driver board has gone bad. In a TV, the screen driver board is easily replaced but costs in the $70 range. This board is usually on the back of the LCD screen itself since it has some very fine ribbon cable with many connections but only a few connectors. It powers the lines and columns and each of the three colors. Best bet is to find a used screen on E bay or at out of a wreck.
