DIY: How to change center wheel caps!
I noticed that one of my wheel caps had fallen apart. So here is a simple DIY on how to change your center cap.
Tools needed: 1. Knife
2. Center cap (Part# A 171 400 01 25 5337) for 2010 E550. (your center cap may vary)
Take your knife and pull off the center cap.
As you can see in the picture, the new center cap needs to be pressed in.
Align the center cap to the rim.
Press in until it's completely inserted.
Done!

Rather than sticking a knife between the cap and rim and scratching the rims in the process I would just get a drill bit make a hole on the cap and use hook to pull it out (this only works if you will never use the cap again).

A very thin flat head screen driver with a thin cloth around the front also works and you will not scratch your rim in the process of changing the caps out. My wife's car caps needed to be changed out last year. The original caps were made differently than the replacement caps, hense a defect in the originals which Mercedes changed at some point.

I'm in need of doing this too. All four of my caps look like this (maybe not so bad). I've seen a set of these caps online for $60. Any idea where I can get some that are cheaper? Seems silly for plastic caps with silver paint on them...

That's how mine, all 4, looked like.
Since the OEM caps didn't last long, I've purchased replica caps on ebay and happy with the result.
Search for "Mercedes-Benz Wheel Center Cap 75mm" on ebay.

I'm sorry but is this amateur hour?
The official way is to take the wheel off and pop them from the back. This is what any professional tire shop is going to do before they mount and balance a wheel.
What's next, are we going to start advising members it's ok to torque wheel bolts by feel?
