Sorry in advance for my bad English and lack of proper terminology.

It turns out resistors have burned out, local dealer pulled the seat apart.

BOTH the back and the seat have the same issue and each is whopping 700 euros a pop + install.
Dealer says I need to swap the seat and backrest, since it has seat-ac and the better leather the price jumped up. Regular W204 C180cdi facelift.

Winter is getting colder so I kinda need those but 1400+ for seat heater is kinda brutal.

Is there any cheaper option? Like replacing the component alone.

I should be able to DIY swap the parts if only I knew what I need and where to buy em from.

Shop link willing to ship to Europe/Finland GREATLY APPRECIATED

The ONLY option I can find is original parts. They sell the whole component, not just the set of resistors.

What I need is some form of third-party set of those.

I can't find a direct link or even a name/code. "Somewhere" is too far.

Is it the heating elements themselves or some kind of other resistor?

I'm not sure how these things are built but if it is a custom part perhaps you could harvest them from a junked car or replaced seat and reuse them in your seats? Heated seats are rather common in this car. But the internals may not be easily serviceable.

Your English is fine Much better than my Finnish. There is a rather large Finnish community near where I live.

In our terms they are called resistors... Argh, basicly THE part that heats up.

According to my knowledge only very few countries don't have seat heaters as standard.

Insurance company junkyards are more expensive than buying OEM parts. None anywhere near here and any junked Merc this new would be shipped abroad where there's demand for parts.

I think I would normally call it a heating element but it is technically a resistor.

It sucks you can't source them out used like that.

Where I'm from it rarely goes below 60F, so it seems silly to have them here.

Are you 100% sure it's the resistors? With the top and bottom out I'd examine the possibility of a common wiring issue.

The heating parts have literally burned in half. Seen it myself.

Any cheapo copy seats around I can cannibalize the needed parts?
