Buying a "keyless" key for a C-class C350 2013
Hey all,
I just bought a C350 2013, and as it was from auction, it came with only one key. The car is equipped with the Keyless feature.
I went to a Benz dealer close to my house, he told me that he can order me a new key, using the VIN number, however the price would be $380 !!
Does that price sound reasonable? Can anyone suggest a cheaper option?
(I understood from the dealer that this car does not have a wallet key).
Thank you for any help you can give me!

Actually, that price is only a little more than you'd see with any car manufacturer. Mercedes dealers will bend you over on an oil change so that key price isn't bad in comparison.
I'm not familiar with keys on MB yet but with most cars they can be purchased non-dealer and programmed by the owner for a fraction of the cost. Mercedes may have found a way to make that impossible?

Thanks!
Thank you all, I just wanted to know if there is a cheaper solution as this is going to be a second key just in case of an emergency.
Mercedes create keys that can only be programmed by them and specific to the cars VIP#. The number on the key are running numbers.
If anyone has any other suggestions, please let me know.

That's the way it is. Ordered and coded by vin # and must be at the dealer with all supporting documentation that the vehicle is yours. The only way you can save a few dollars is tell them you want a non keyless go key but won't save you much.

It sucks there is no self programming options. That's something just about every manufacturer offers (although sometimes well hidden). It can usually save $100-$200.
But that key price is typical of any manufacturer's key when going through a dealer.
