Oscillation issue
I purchased the car from carmax with 20K on the odometer. However, carmax technicians do not seem to notice it. Getting a service appointment there is a hassle.
Anyway, every time I've ever seen an issue like this it's usually a tire problem. I can't seem to find any info on carmax policy with tires.
The tires are Continental ContiProContact which have a 6 year even tread wear warranty but I don't seem to find any info about this kind of issue.
Mercedes wants to perform a balance. They said something about their balance methods were superior what is commonly available. But I'm worried about paying for a balance and then being told I need new tires afterwards.
I just don't think it's a balance issue, those usually shake at specific speeds. This is an oscillation that happens at all speeds, even very slow. It feels more like an out of round tire but with any luck it will just be a balance problem.
I kind on knew it wasn't a balance problem but never had issues with tires this new before. So I was confused about what I was feeling with the car.
I called CarMax to see what they'll do. They said they'd fix it and have another appointment setup with them. I haven't even had the car a full month yet and this is my 5th service appointment, lol.
I'm not sure what they'll do. I'm worried they'll swap the rims out on the car with another on the lot and pass the problem along to someone else.
