2008 C300 front headlights go off for 1-2 seconds

Once or twice during my 40 mile morning commute in the dark my headlights will go off for 1-2 seconds. They come back on without my having time to move the light switch to another setting. I can't correlate the lights going off to my having driven over a bump or pothole. Anyone got any ideas what could be causing this?

I had a similar problem a few years back and needed a new switch module. It seems to be a somewhat common problem. I actually had to show MB video of the problem before they would repair under warranty as it was intermittent and wouldn't act up when at the dealer.
I believe there is a DIY somewhere around here, so search for that if you are up for it!

This happens to me too on my 09, but mainly when I also have my fog lights on and the switch is in the on position instead of auto position.

Thanks for your reply. For my clarification, by "switch" I presume you mean the on-off switch for the lights on the dashboard, rather than some form of electrical switch elsewhere in the car such as in the engine compartment for example. Thanks.

You are correct. The rotary switch on the lower left dash.
