they are aluminum i guess and the white stuff is corrosion i suppose
i thought of submerging them in vinegar or a soft dissolvant
what do you advise me to do ?

Hi, You might want to take a look first. I have factory OEM 18" 5 spoke AMG wheels and the centre caps are made of plastic with a (presumably) vacuum metallised coating on them that looks like chrome plating. Just get a new set - they're not that expensive.

I see them sold at various sites. Anywhere from $10 or less per piece on up to $300-$400 for a set.

You can get them in blue, original design in black, solid black/chrome finish or carbon fiber.

okay thanks, i don't think i'll be replacing them. My car is 2008 and a lot of its parts look old or damaged so unless it's something functionnal or really bothering me i am gonna pass.
