cam shaft positioning sensor?
I posted this previously on the wrong forum, my apologies
My car is a 2012 c-250. I am getting a code calling for a cam shaft positioning sensor, not sure of the code number, the parts store read the code and I didn't write it down.
I see several older models have had this problem and it seems major. I am close to freaking out on this so I'd like some input from anybody familiar with this. Symptoms are, cold start slight grinding noise (warm start no noise), almost like a starter over spun, and engine light. Performance does not seem effected as of yet. Please help!

I'm not so worried about the sensor it's self. God knows I've replaced enough sensors in my time, but what I am reading is it may be a balancer problem or even magnets. That get's into the unknown for me.Plus the fact I here this grindy noise on start up, is telling me it's not a simple sensor.

To update, hoping to get some help here. code that's coming up is po340.(cam sensor) sound I am hearing is a timing sound(like to advanced). I have 54,000 on the car and am afraid it is out of warranty and they won't help me here. But I have heard about timing chain issues with this car.Could the problem be as simple as a cam sensor going bad? I'm thinking that's unlikely. Advise is welcomed, please.

I got a sensor code on my c300 ... But often it is the magnet not the sensor itself. Mine had no noise however . C250 engine may be different - but there are diy write ups if you search for changing the magnet - make sure you know which one is throwing the code and start there - about $50 part from mercedes on-line. I did sensor also - used bosch - same as mercedes but much cheaper.
